Stanford University’s d.school, founded in 2005, is a center for innovation, design thinking, collaboration and solutions to real-world issues by Stanford students. In 2013, as part of learning from innovative Bay Area manufacturing companies, several mechanical engineering graduate students in the d.school’s ME219: “Magic of Materials” class visited Woodtech headquarters. The students assessed Woodtech’s customer service, engineering capabilities and production techniques. The d.school team’s concluding presentation featured their video footage documenting fabrication work on the Woodtech plant floor.
