The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) selected Woodtech as a winner in the “8th Annual Design and Build with FSC” Awards. The recognition was announced at the Greenbuild 2012 conference in San Francisco, California. Woodtech is the first furniture fabricator to ever win in the “Design and Build with FSC” Awards.

FSC AWARD WINNER

Woodtech won in the Judges’ Choice category for its fabrication of over 8,000 tables for Cisco’s Telepresence video conferencing system. In this international competition, projects were judged on their extensive use of FSC wood, impact on the marketplace and visual aesthetics.

These awards have typically honored entire buildings but, in this case, the FSC judges were impressed by how the large-scale fabrication of Cisco tables incorporates FSC policies from start to finish. The judges specifically lauded Woodtech and Cisco for their investment of over four million dollars in FSC products. Judges noted that all parts of the tables are FSC-certified, including hardwood banding, particleboard and exterior veneer. In addition, Woodtech required FSC Chain-of-Custody certification of all its supplier partners such as the veneer mill, veneer panel manufacturer and hardwood distributor.

Corey Brinkema, President of FSC/USA said the awards were created to show the “…benefits from using wood from responsibly managed forests.” Woodtech is proud to support FSC’s efforts.
